A passenger begged a worker to open the door of a train for him after he missed the departure time in eastern China.

Video filmed in the city of Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province on January 19 shows a man kneeling down to a railway staff member, begging to let him on board.

According to reports, the man left the train to smoke when it stopped at Xuzhou East Railway Station. However, he did not go back onto the train in time and he only noticed it when the doors had been closed.

An employee from the railway station said they broadcasted to remind travellers before the train departed. If the doors closed, they would not be opened again.

The workers on site had arranged for him to board another train to arrive at his destination and they also contacted the chief conductor on the train he missed to store his luggage when they arrived.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
