Chicken catching jallikattu competitions are held annually in Nandavanam Street area of Tiruchengode. Only men participate in Jallikattu competitions and tame bulls As women are not allowed to participate in Jallikattu competitions,
women and children draw a circle on a piece of land and place the contestant in the middle. The contestant is blindfolded and one of his legs is tied with a rope. The competitor must catch the chicken without crossing the other end of the rope which is tied to one leg of the chicken
They have to catch the chicken within a certain time limit and if they go beyond the circle while trying to catch the chicken or if they are not able to catch the chicken within the given time they will be considered as failure.
