A woman was left stunned after being reunited with her American mum, after six years apart, at her surprise birthday party. 

31-year-old Melissa McManus wanted to throw her mum, 50-year-old Lee Anderson, a 50th birthday party she would never forget in their town of Livingston, UK. 

Melissa had organised for Lee’s mum, 74-year-old Irene Anderson, to fly over from her home in the US to be the second surprise for her daughter’s birthday, after not seeing her for over six years.  

As Lee walked into the room, she was shocked to be met with a room full of people and started hugging Melissa and other party goers. 

However, as Lee turned around to face Irene, she screamed in shock before running over to her mum and hugging her. 

Lee said: “My daughter threw me a surprise 50th birthday party and flew my mum over from the states who I haven't seen in roughly six years.

“I was in total shock but I was elated. 

“I was totally surprised at first that my daughter had managed to keep the party a secret but even more stunned she had arranged to have my mum come over. 

“Everyone loves the video and said it makes them cry happy tears. 

“It was a beautiful night surrounded by family and friends.”
