Thousands of residents living in remote areas of Renggeang Village, Limboro Subdistrict, Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi, have long survived on clean water from the river.

This is how the residents of Renggeang Village live every afternoon. Carrying dozens of jerry cans, they fetch clean water from a spring dug on the riverbank.

This clean water, in addition to being used for bathing, washing and cooking, can also be drunk directly without having to be cooked. Although this water is still raw, when consumed it does not make the stomach hurt.

Thousands of residents of Renggeang Village have been deprived of clean water for a long time. They only rely on clean water from the river.

Almost all houses in this village are not supplied with clean water. Even if there is, it is only a few houses and it is certain that the clean water is purchased from clean water providers in the city.

Taking clean water from the Renggeang River has become a culture and tradition left by their parents for decades.

According to the villagers, the water taken from this riverside spring is holy water, believed to be the water of life for the villagers.

And this water has its own uniqueness, where the river water is murky when the spring is taken right on the edge of the river, the water is clear.
