The eruption in Halema‘uma‘u crater, at the summit of Kilauea in Hawaii, continues with steady lava lake activity, footage shows on Tuesday, January 17.

As can be seen in the video, there is a steady flow of lava from the huge molten lake at the top, with the largest pool in the eastern portion of the crater.

The volcano is located along the southeastern shore of the 'Big Island' of Hawaii and is between 210,000 and 280,000 years old, having emerged above sea level about 100,000 years ago. It is the most active of the five volcanoes that form Hawaii and also one of the most active volcanoes on earth, with its latest eruption happening on September 29, 2021.

The activity of the site is long and consistent and even its name means "spewing", a reference to the fact that it is constantly pouring molten lava into the surrounding area. Experts who have studied the volcano say that lava which is more recent than a thousand years old covers 90% of the surface, and the oldest detected so far is 2,800 years old.
