Actor Brendan Fraser delighted fans with a surprise appearance at a showing of "The Mummy" at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, London.

Niall McGourty filmed as the 54-year-old actor spoke to the audience on January 20.

The crowd were heard cheering as Fraser promoted his upcoming film "The Whale".

McGourty told Newsflare: "I was there with one other friend and we were surprised that the place was packed with every seat sold out except the back row.

"Before the first movie, they showed all the retro trailers from Brendan Fraser's movies culminating in the trailer for his new film, 'The Whale'.

"When that finished, they started playing all the trailers again which we thought was a bit weird but then the curtains closed in front of the screen.

"The head of programming at the PCC stepped in front of the screen and introduced Brendan Fraser who ran up from the back of the cinema dressed in his costume from 'The Mummy' films.

"Everyone in the cinema went wild and it took a while for the applause to die down before he gave a very brief introduction to the movie.

"Having him there I think really made people enjoy the movie more, with louder laughs in that screening than I can remember in any other.

"When I ducked out to go to the bathroom I believe I saw Brendan Fraser in the back row watching the first movie. I do not know if he stayed for the second. I've been astounded by the reaction the clip has got particularly from people outside the UK."
