Tourists washed away by rising water in dam when taking photos in China
Tourists were washed away by the rising water in a dam when taking photos in central China.
The video was filmed in the city of Sanmenxia in Henan Province on January 22.
Tourists were seen getting trapped in the river and nearby residents on the shore attempted to rescue them.
According to a witness named Chen, the water suddenly rose up after tourists walked into the middle of the river to take photos.
Chen said there was an iron net surrounding the area but the tourists climbed over it to enter the river.
The incident site is a photo spot so a lot of people went there for pictures.
Rescuers were deployed to save the tourists. Ten people were rescued but two of them died.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
