A hoarder was saved from being bitten after her dogs found a deadly cobra hiding among rubbish in her home.

Kueakool Marbmongkol, 45, discovered the venomous serpent curled up in the junk cluttering her residence in Chonburi province on January 18.

She was sewing when her dogs began to bark at the reptile that had sneaked inside.

Terrified Kueakool rounded up her pets and called a rescue team to evacuate the snake.

The 5ft long monocled snake - so-called because of the eye-like pattern on its flared hood - was found resting in a pile of garbage.

It hissed and bared its fangs, but was quickly caught in 30 minutes. The team threw it inside a sack to be released into its natural habitat.

Rescuer Thampong Songsopha said: 'The house was messy and increased the risk of snakes coming to live inside.

'If people come across any kind of snake, they should call professionals to handle it, because all types of snakes are dangerous.'
