A wild porcupine visited a tourist's hotel room at a Thai national park.

The spiky creature wandered around outside the accommodation area of Khao Yai national park in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand, on January 10.

It curiously sniffed the objects outside one of the doors until Sarana Sermsitthiporn spotted it when she returned to her room at night.

Footage shows the porcupine rummaging through a plastic bag where it found pieces of paper.

Sarana said: ‘We went there to see the animals. We stayed all day outside. I didn't expect that there would be one waiting for me outside my room.'

The tourist added she took the plastic bag to the bin after the creature left.

She said: ‘I think it could be hungry and was looking for food. It was very friendly and left when it saw me walking by.'
