When we immigrated to Canada in 2007 as a family from St. Leonards-on-Sea with our son Jozef and UK born Alaskan Malamute Pinga we could only dream of becomng mushers of our own dogsled team in the great Canadian outdoors. When Pinga passed in 2017 aged 13 yrs. we found a wonderful breeder of the Tonomi Alaskan Malamutes whose line just happened to be connected to UK breeders Casiat where we found our 1st Alaskan Malamute love Pinga in Norforlk UK. Pinga and our family also partook as contestants in a 2006 RDF production called " Britan's Top Dog" for Channel 4 in the UK where we proclaimed our aspirations to live in Canada and become dog sled mushers. Happily since that dream has been achieved when we found Kent and Cindy Merekley of Snowy Mountain Sleddogs . The Merkley's began rescuing Alaskan Malamutes over 20yrs ago giving them the best forever working family home life in the Ontario countryside in Canada. This amazing family became our mentors training our 3 Alaskan Malamutes Sojou 5yrs, Fish 2 yrs. and Dotty 1 yr to become sled dogs and for Martin , Jozef and I to become mushers. We joined Mush Lerose Sleddog skijoring club 4 years ago and never looked back. Winter can be a challenge but this is how we survive the freezing cold harsh winter months dogsledding.
