A daredevil motorcyclist was arrested over 'reckless riding' by laying on his scooter with feet in the air.

Charan Ritto, 37, was with his friend who filmed him doing the dangerous stunt in Songkhla province on January 22.

He was seen lying flat on the motorcycle seat with his right leg pointing upwards and his left bent while speeding along the road.

However, police found the video and later summoned Charan and his friend Thanet Mhunadem to the station to explain.

Footage shows the rider and his friend at the police station as officers give them a stern warning about road and public safety.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kanit Tengthing said: ‘Charan Ritto was charged with reckless driving for potentially causing danger to the public.'

Officers also found out that the rider was taking medication for psychiatric issues.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kanit added: ‘We found that he is a psychiatric patient and is often found performing tricks on his motorcycle around the market.

‘Locals have complained about Charan asking for money allegedly to buy drugs. Our investigation showed he was only doing those reckless riding tricks after drug use.'

While Charan could not evade charges, officers allowed him to leave with his family so he could take rehabilitation treatments.

His friend was also charged alongside Charan for allegedly encouraging him to commit the offence and using a phone while driving.
