RowVaughn Wells, Tyre Nichols's mother, calls for peaceful protests before the release of the body cam footage showing the police violence that led to her son's death on January 10, 2023.

In the video, she says "I don't want us burning up our cities, tearing up the streets" underlining that this is now what her son stood for.

Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man, was arrested for alleged reckless driving and beaten by Memphis Police Department officers on January 7. He died three days later.

Five policemen, who are all black, were charged with second-degree murder and other crimes.
