Passengers screamed as lightning struck a plane's wing in Turkey.

The AnadoluJet Boeing 737 was queueing to land at the Antalya Airport in stormy weather when a blinding flash of light suddenly appeared outside the windows on January 27.

Shocked passengers who were watching the thick rain clouds as they waited to approach the grounds were heard shouting in the video.

Local media reported that the bolt of lightning struck the wingtip.

One of the passengers Atakan Simsir said the plane was not damaged but the incident sparked panic among them.

He said: ‘It happened while we were landing. The lightning struck the wing section. It was so scary because it happened before our eyes.'

Cabin crew helped calm the passengers and safely landed afterward.

A lightning strike on an aircraft is not dangerous as planes are designed to withstand lightning strikes. However, pilots will check the vehicle's vital signs to ensure it is functioning correctly.
