Children's author Michael Rosen compared the UK government's controversial proposed anti-strike bill to a Nazi decree at a rally outside Downing Street in London on Monday evening (January 30).

The Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill would grant the government powers to set 'minimum service levels' for certain key public services during strike action, including health, education and transport.

Addressing the crowd at the rally, Rosen said "one of the first things that the Nazis did ... was in actual fact laws that somewhat resemble the laws that we're talking about now".

The popular author said that the Reichstag Fire Decree is a "textbook for fascism", and added, "that's the textbook they learn from, and that's what they're trying to do now".
