LAPD Police Prepare For Tyre Nichols Riots
After a peaceful vigil turned violent in front of LAPD Headquarters at 100 W. First Street, Los Angeles, CA on January 28, 2023 (following the release of the video tape showing five Memphis Policemen beating to death 29 year-old Tyre Nichols at a traffic infraction stop), about 100 Los Angeles Police Department Officers with riot gear responded to a small group of protesters who threw smoke bombs and firecrackers at squad cars, then quickly dispersed at the show of force. By 11:00 pm, only police and newscasters were lined up on the street in front of the headquarters building; some were expressing gratitude that no one was hurt or arrested.
