Teachers and schoolchildren plunge into sea when pier collapses in Malaysia
Teachers and school children were rescued after plunging into the sea when a pier collapsed in Malaysia.
Footage shows the panicked youngsters struggling through the water as adults pulled them onto wooden boats in Sabah on January 30.
Some of the smaller children had to be carried while waiting for everyone to board a passing vessel.
While no one was seriously hurt in the incident, students went home drenched and traumatised while their notebooks were destroyed from the water.
A villager said: ‘We don't need taller flagpoles, we need a new jetty. It should be sturdy enough to keep the students safe.'
