A meth-crazed Buddhist monk has been arrested after going on a rampage and trespassing into a relative's home in Thailand.

Suphan Phuduangjit, also known as Phrae, stormed into homeowner Mook Songklang's house in Khon Kaen on January 29, claiming someone was out to kill him.

However, the skeptical lady was unconvinced by his rant and asked her son to catch the intruder.

She said: 'I was walking out of my bedroom to the bathroom, but Phrae followed me and shouted that someone was coming to kill him.

'I wasn't scared of him since he was unarmed, but I was worried since there was a bedridden patient in my house.'

Police and a local official arrived to detain Phrae, who was found to have been kicked out of monkhood a day earlier on January 28.

Phrae had been serving as a monk for nine years, but was forced out of the monastic order after he was discovered to have taken methamphetamine during a drug test.

No charges have been filed against him as officers are still conducting investigations.

Police Colonel Pornsak Ngandee, a superintendent of Nam Phong Police Station, said: 'Phrae admitted to buying two meth pills for 100 baht and using them.'

He added that discussions with the former holy man's family are underway to determine where he can undergo rehabilitation for his drug problem.
