Asian civet rescued from house in central India
An Asian palm civet was captured and rescued after it had sneaked into a house in central India's Chhattisgarh.
The incident is reported to have happened in the Katghora area of Korba district on February 2.
Visuals showed the civet curled up, seated on the AC. Snake catcher Jitendra Sarathi, who led this animal's capture and rescue operation, then lured it away from the AC with a black cloth at the end of a stick. He then slowly grabbed the animal by its tail before bringing it down. Later, he was seen also trying to calm the animal as he held on to its tail.
According to a report, the civet appeared in the bedroom of a man named Vijay Agarwal at night and he and his family were terrified initially, having seen such a creature for the first time.
He then informed Jitendra Sarathi, who relayed the information to Katghora Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Premlata Yadav. The room was reportedly locked at night with the animal still in it. In the morning, Sarathi and his team arrived at the spot to capture the animal.
The civet was later released into the wild.
