An avalanche was triggered at Afarwat peak, Jammu and Kashmir, killing two skiers from Poland.

Footage from February 1 shows the moment large sheets of snow cascaded down the mountain in Gulmarg.

A rescue operation was initiated and the bodies of two Polish nationals were found. Twenty-one others were successfully rescued.

A massive avalanche struck Afarwat peak at a famous ski-resort in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of two foreign nationals. Others, who were trapped, have been rescued.

The incident is reported to have happened in Gulmarg, Baramulla district on February 1.

Visuals showed the massive avalanche as snow fell down a slope with people shouting and alerting others about it. According to a report, Javed Ahmad, a sub-divisional officer at Tangmarg, the avalanche struck near Afarwat peak.

A rescue operation was initiated and the bodies of two foreign nationals, who were from Poland, were found. Additionally, 21 others, who were trapped, have been rescued and the rescue operation has been called off.

Medical and legal formalities were being conducted with the bodies of the two Polish nationals who lost their lives in this incident.
