A pair of off-road motorcyclists had a terrifying brush with serious injury or worse when they fell through the ice into freezing river below during a ride on 30 January.

The dramatic scene took place in the Kanash region of Russia.

The incident was caught on camera by one of the racers and later posted on his YouTube channel (@MXLive21).

The racer ahead was riding his motorcycle on the frozen river when the ice gave way, throwing his bike and him into the water.

The same happened to the second rider, following right behind.

He immediately went underwater, following his heavy bike, but fortunately managed to pull himself out, helped by his comrade, who by now had escaped the water too.

Unfortunately, both racers were injured in the incident. The first racer suffered a broken collarbone, while the second racer sustained a shoulder injury.

In addition, they both caught a cold due to being in the cold water.

They were eventually able to retrieve their equipment, but their motorcycles suffered significant water damage.
