Pop! The moment the Chinese spy balloon is shot down over Myrtle Beach
Video captured the moment the Chinese high-altitude balloon that the US says was spying, was shot down on Saturday February 4.
It was filmed by Angela Mosley, who was taking a weekend trip in the area of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
She said: "My husband and I were on a weekend trip and saw the balloon and the jets above while out shopping. We had already planned a walk on the Myrtle Beach boardwalk and when we arrived we knew it would only be moments before they blew it up because we heard that the go ahead was given to shoot it down when it was over water. We watched one particular jet super close and knew it was about to shoot it down. It accelerated and then we heard the boom and saw the smoke. Afterwards everyone cheered."
"As for me I was relieved that it was gone even tho it was too late as it had already gathered too much intelligence from us."
President Joe Biden earlier told reporters earlier the US was "going to take care of" the balloon, that had taken a long journey across American airspace.
The US Department of Defense confirmed its fighter jets shot down the balloon over the Atlantic.
Three nearby airports were closed along with local airspace while the operation was carried out.
