A church service for clowns was held in London on February 5.

The service was in honour of Joseph Grimaldi, who lived in the late 18th and early 19th Century, and who is considered an icon by clowns around the world.

Footage shows locals dressed as clowns gathering outside the church performing tricks and riding unicycles.

Grimaldi was an actor, comedian, dancer and clown, who was one of the most popular English entertainers of his era.

The annual service returned to All Saints Church in Haggerston after two years of it being shown online because of the pandemic.

The church was full of clowns gathered to honour the king of their craft.
