A worried wild emerged from a family's car after being chased by a pet cat.

The serpent was spotted slithering across the garden but the protective feline wouldn't allow it near their home in Rayong province, Thailand on December 31.

Pet owner Jintana Thamthong said the moggy ran after the reptile until it took refuge inside their sedan. It them slithered out o leave when they hid the pet inside the house.

Footage shows the Indochina rat snake crawling out of the space under the car's hood. It was unhurt and escaped through the garden.

Jintana said: ‘We couldn't take the snake out. It turned out to be very afraid of our cat.

‘So we had to take the cat inside the house and lo and behold, the snake left on its own. It even ignored me watching it from a chair.'
