Officers of the Indian army came to the rescue of a pregnant woman and evacuated her amid heavy snowfall in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident is reported to have happened in Kalaroos pass of Kupwara district on February 6.

Visuals showed the Indian army officials carrying the woman on a stretcher as they walked through the snow to get to the ambulance. According to a report, the road was slippery and blocked because of the snowfall and the path to the lady's house was narrow, steep and dangerous.

The Indian army acted quickly on a distress call and sent medical teams of the Kalaroos COB. The army officials then carried the pregnant lady on their shoulders and walked through the snowfall for about five kilometres near the Sumo Bridge from where the lady was taken into an ambulance kept on standby and rushed to the Primary Health Centre, where she delivered a baby boy.

Both mother and child are doing well. Had there been a delay in this evacuation, it would have put the lives of both the lady and her child in danger.
