This is the heartwarming moment a kind truck driver rescued a puppy in a manhole and returned it to its mother dog.

Mongkhol Buri was picking up merchandise from a warehouse when he heard a dog whimpering nearby in Padang Besar, Malaysia on February 3.

It was drizzling that day but Mongkhol followed the crying female pooch who was motioning to the sewers, pleading for help.

The driver checked under the drain and was shocked to see a drowning pooch clinging to a plank. He realised that the dog was its mother and not asking for food but askingfor help rescuing her baby.

Footage shows Mongkhol scooping up the puppy from the dirty water. He placed the crying puppy on the ground and the mother dog immediately went up to check on the young pooch, looking towards Mongkhol with gratitude in her eyes.

The driver said: ‘It was raining and the water in the drain could overflow. I saw them on time and prevented anything worse from happening,

‘I work as a driver and move deliveries in and out of the Thai-Malaysia border. I usually see stray animals on the way and I try to help as much as I can.'

The adult dog gently licked the puppy and carried it away. Before the pair left, the female dog looked up at Mongkhol like she was saying thank you.

Mongkhol added: ‘It was very touching on my part. The mother and puppy were safe. They seemed to live near the warehouse. I watched the mother dog walk away with her puppy in her mouth. They were safe, so I felt good.'
