Helpful riders chase burning truck to warn driver
Helpful motorcycle riders having a roadside break chased a burning truck to warn and save its driver.
The men Ai and Chettha Saisupan were resting in front of a store with their two-wheelers when the flammable asphalt tanker passed by in Ratchaburi province on February 2.
Shockingly, they noticed the tail of the vehicle ignited. One of them leapt up from his seat to call out the driver but as he seemed not to hear them, the pair of riders rushed with their vehicle to make sure they prevent an accident.
CCTV footage shows the good Samaritans running after the flaming tanker that made a turn at a junction.
One of the riders Ai said: ‘How could we sit still when we saw the tanker in flames? We got up and call him out to help.'
The riders reached about 100 metres from the junction to catch the tanker before it pulled over and put out the fire. They used a fire extinguisher to control the fire and doused it with water.
No one was hurt and the fire did not spread throughout the vehicle that carried liquefied asphalt, a flammable material.
Ai added: ‘The driver said he knew about the fire and was looking for a safe place to manage it. But he was still thankful we were there to assist him. We were relieved no one was hurt.'
