This is the moment a massive king cobra was caught in a family's front room in Thailand.

The homeowner had been cleaning his garage in the Phrom Khiri district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province on February 5 when he noticed something moving under a fertiliser sack.

Curious, he poked at it with a wooden stick, but was terrified to discover a nine-foot cobra hiding underneath. He ran away and quickly called a wildlife rescue team for help.

Officers later arrived with snake-catching poles and wrangled the venomous reptile out of the man's home in 10 minutes.

It wriggled fiercely as they hauled it outside, but was no match for the specialists who sealed it safely inside a sack.

The cobra was released into a forest, and no one was harmed during the encounter.
