Penguins From The Oldest Zoo Receive A Special Heart-Shaped Treat For Valentine's Day In Vienna, Austria

The Schoenbrunn Zoo in Vienna, Austria gave its southern rockhopper penguins a heart-shaped treat made from krill and beetroot juice on February 9th, 2023 for Valentine's Day.
The treat, which was frozen and thawed by the penguins, came ahead of their mating season and was a celebration of their faithfulness to their partners. The zoo is responsible for ensuring the 137 rockhopper penguins in European zoos find a suitable partner and is one of the few zoos with offspring every year.
The zoo will also offer a free Valentine's Day tour, "The Love Lives of Animals" on February 14th with a discount for couples.
