Heavy snowfall hits Kabul, Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for heavy snowfall in Kabul, as well as other parts of the country, from Feb. 8-9. Accumulations of 15-50 cm (6-20 inches) of snow are expected, particularly in higher ground areas.
The heaviest snowfall is forecast in northern and southern Badakhshan, northern and western Badghis, eastern and southern Baghlan and other areas. Red warnings have been issued in these areas.
Officials may update and extend the weather alerts in the coming days.
