The Don't Extradite Assange campaign organised a rally after a protest carnival event in London attended by hundreds of supporters (February 11).

The rally, held in the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster, a stone's throw from the Home Office, had special guest speakers - Julian Assange's wife, Stella, MP Jeremy Corbyn, WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Kristinn Hrafnsson, Richard Ratcliffe, husband of formerly-imprisoned British-Iranian Nazanin and Ben Westwood, son of the late designer Vivienne.

Hrafnsson in his speech, said that the continued imprisonment was the 'Gravest threat against press freedom of our times - and we must fight it.'

Jeremy Corbyn added that Julian Assange 'Spoke out for the innocent victims [of war]'.

The WikiLeaks founder faces extradition, after then-Home Secretary, Priti Patel, approved the US request for his extradition where he violated the country's Espionage Act.

The Australian national has been incarcerated in Belmarsh Prison since 2019, after he was arrested at the Ecuardorian Embassy in London.
