A lion pride worked together to drag a massive buffalo down by its tail.

Francis Kijazi was leading a tour through Nyasirori Plains, Tanzania, during December when a group of predators zoned in on a 850kg meal.

Fascinating footage shows one lion take the buffalo’s back legs out forcing it to the ground before a couple more jumped in to help.

Despite the buffalo’s heroic struggles, the pride eventually dragged it down to the ground first by its tail and then by climbing on its hind and side.

Francis said: “I was hugely impressed by the lion pride’s work. Over 40 minutes they worked together to bring down this massive meal.

“In 14 years of guiding, I have never seen a kill quite like this. It was amazing to see up close.

“There was absolutely no brutality from the lions here. Only about two times out of 10 will lions be successful in hunting down a buffalo.”
