A pregnant vendor and her husband were attacked by a 'train mafia' over a territory dispute at a train station in Thailand.

Kanyarat Sapsaithong, 27, and her partner Worachai Kuyukam, 24, were selling halal food to Muslim passengers at the Chumphon Railway Station on February 7 when they were confronted by an aggressive man claiming the area was his territory, and they were not allowed to peddle food there.

The gangster allegedly threatened them, saying: 'I won the bid to sell at the station. You wandering vendors have no right to sell here.'

The couple claimed they tried to appease the man, who continued hurling insults at them before calling for more of his companions.

Shocking security footage shows the 'mafia' descending on Kanyarat and Worachai on the platform. The thugs knocked down Worachai, stomped on him, and slashed him with a blade, while they kicked at Kanyarat, who is three months pregnant.

Guards later arrived to break up the altercation.

A shaken Kanyarat said: 'We have been selling food here for two years. Even my mother had been selling here for 20 years, and we've never encountered this problem.'

She added that they had been peddling food on the train, and not at the station itself, saying they had bought tickets to get on.

Officers from the Muang Chumphon police statuon said they have obtained the CCTV footage and already have a few suspects to question.

An investigation is ongoing.
