This is the heartwarming moment a kind driver rescued a helpless tabby cat trapped in a roadside drain.

Noolek Karo and her boyfriend were travelling around the city when they spotted an orange feline in a hole that led to the gutter in Bangkok, Thailand on February 6.

The pair immediately stopped their vehicle and approached the creature that seemed to be trapped.

Footage shows Noolek's partner walking across traffic to help the kitty out. He then carried the tame cat to safety on the other side of the road.

Noolek said: 'I knew that the cat has an owner because it had a collar and it looked calm when my boyfriend approach it.'

They took the creature home and took care of it while looking for its owners.

Just after three days, the cat's owner messaged the couple and was reunited with the help of the good Samaritans.

Grateful owner Khun Jame Thana said: ‘My car jumped out of my pickup truck and disappeared. I'm so happy they rescued the cat before it was too late.'
