A loyal pet dog chased a van to reunite with his owner.

The clingy brown pooch was on the road, following a middle-aged man with artificial legs as he climbed up the passenger vehicle in Central Visayas, the Philippines on February 3.

It was seen attempting to sit next to the resident but to no avail. He then defiantly tailed behind the automobile until it stopped to let a passenger out.

Footage shows the pet dog sprinting across the road to keep up with the van. When the vehicle stopped, its owner motioned for the pooch to return home and backed away.

Onlooker Maan Monares who was in a car behind said: 'The dog might be worried because his owner was on an artificial leg and wanted to protect him.

‘We didn't stop to take the dog because it lived in that area. For sure, he knew his way around.

Maan added it might be the dog's routine every morning when his owner leaves.

She said: ‘The dog was not crying. It knew what it was doing and went home safely.'
