A kitchen stove was turned into a black molten mess after a tea shop's owners left it on to take a shower in Thailand.

Footage shows the remains of the stove, which has turned into charred and hardened goop at a bubble tea shop in Loei province on February 7.

Shop owner Mayarin Sriphuthorn said she was exceptionally sleepy that day, and forgot to set a timer as she cooked syrup for her drinks.

As the kitchen was sealed off by a door, she didn't smell the smoke until it wafted through the vents of her bathroom while she was taking a shower.

Mayarin, who recorded her cooking fail, said: 'I was angry with myself for letting that happen. Luckily, there was no gas explosion. It would have been difficult if the fire had spread since we have three cats at home.'
