A spectacular iridescent cloud formed during sunset in the Philippines.

Footage shows the colourful weather phenomenon of neon pink, green and yellow light, lining the clouds as seen from a village in Cebu City on January 31.

Resident Frances Majella Sucong said her son was watching the passing airplane in the sky when they noticed the amazing colours.

Frances said: ‘I am a lover of sunsets so I took my child out for some playtime before the sun was down. Seeing the rainbow was so amazing.

‘He told me ‘mommy look at the sky, it's colour green.'

Cloud iridescence, not to be confused with a fire rainbow, forms on thin clouds and happens when sunlight diffracts water droplets in the atmosphere.
