A shopkeeper suffered a DIY fail when he tumbled from a stepladder while repairing the roof.

CCTV footage shows the worker Manoch Ranok standing on top of the 12ft-high steps when he appeared to lose his balance in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand on February 3.

Manoch clung back to the roof for support while a colleague held the foot of the ladder to keep it standing.

However, the worker eventually fell down as the tool collapsed before him. He was taken to the hospital where medics found he had broken his ankle.

Manoch said: ‘I was trying to fix the shop sign installed on the roof. It was not illuminated at night.

‘But when I was starting to climb down I lost balance. I was afraid I would fall over to my colleague who was helping me so I jumped to the side.'
