This is the moment a peacock spooked an unsuspecting tourist when it appeared in a public toilet in Thailand.

Shine Nanna was about to answer the call of nature at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi province, but was terrified when the massive peacock showed up in the restroom on February 7.

Footage shows the spectacular bird perched on the wall of the cubicles, apparently having escaped from its cage.

Shine said: 'I went to the bathroom, not thinking there would be anything there. When I was about to open the door, I saw a dark shadow.

'At first, I thought it was a ghost, so I screamed and ran outside. But when I looked inside again, I saw that it was actually a peacock, so I took out my phone to take a video.'

Frightened of the sizeable avian, Shine ended up using a different bathroom at the zoo instead.
