Hundreds gather at a vigil in Dublin to honor Brianna Ghey, a trans girl whose life was tragically cut short
Hundreds of people gathered at the Spire in Dublin, Ireland on the night of February 15, 2023, to pay tribute to Brianna Ghey, a 16-year-old trans girl whose life was tragically cut short. Brianna was found with stab wounds in a park in Cheshire, UK, on Saturday. The killing has sparked outrage and heartbreak, with many people organizing vigils in Ireland and the UK to honor Brianna's memory.
The Dublin vigil was organized by Trans and Intersex Pride Dublin, and it was attended by a large crowd that came to show solidarity with Brianna's family and friends, as well as the wider trans community.
The investigation into Brianna's killing is ongoing, and the police in the UK are now looking into whether it could have been a hate crime. Brianna's friends say that she was bullied for years before she died, and it's possible that the violence she faced was related to the fact that she was transgender.
