Frustrated Lebanese protesters caused chaos in Beirut, Lebanon, on February 16, as banks across the city marked the 10th day of their strike.

The action was announced by the Association of Banks in Lebanon in protest of a recent court ruling in favor of a couple involved in a dispute with Fransabank over their blocked deposits.

The Court of Cassation ordered the couple to pay in cash rather than a check, which would have been at a much lower value. The Association of Banks in Lebanon disagreed with this decision and announced the strike soon after.

Since the strike began, many Lebanese have been unable to withdraw money from ATMs, and protests have been organized by depositor associations and protest groups.

On February 16, frustrated protesters broke several windows and doors of at least five banks in the Badaro area of Beirut and set fire to tires outside. The Fransabank branch in Badaro's intruder alarm kept going off as people looked at the damage.

The protest was filmed by social media user @emoufarrej who managed to capture the extent of the damage.

The images are a stark reminder of the turmoil and unrest that continue to grip Lebanon, as the country struggles with a severe economic crisis and political instability.
