Thai women dance with snakes for bizarre religious parade
Snake charmers danced with pythons and cobras as they took part in a colourful religious parade in Thailand.
The brave women grooved to the lively music during a procession for the Goom Kao Yai festival in Khon Kaen province on February 9.
With the chunky serpents draped on their necks like scarves, the performers rode a pickup truck float decorated with flowers and king cobra statues.
Also participating in the festivities were traditional dancers in eye-catching dresses swaying to the beat of drums, cymbals, and tambourines.
Khon Kaen Deputy Governor Taneeya Naipinit said the festival also gave students a chance to set up shops and sell their products, as well as entertain tourists.
The festival ran from February 8 to 10, and attracted visitors from nearby districts.
