A scared stray dog stuck in a concrete pipe was rescued by locals.

The pooch crawled inside the 15ft-long cylinder to shelter at night but could not come out again in Lopburi province, Thailand on February 18.

He was heard crying by passing locals who took pity on the creature and called the animal rescuers for help.

Footage shows the rescue worker using a steel rod with hook to pull the exhausted stray out.

A concerned local held a torch to light up the darkened hole and see where the dog had been trapped.

Resident Thanyawaran Chuapanich said: ‘I was worried that the dog would die inside. He was barely moving but I could hear it crying from outside the hole.

‘I felt so bad for him so I called someone to help me. It must be so scared inside.'

The pooch was fed and given water. He was tired but eventually regained health after eating.

Thanyawaran added: ‘We will take care of the dog until someone can to adopt him. I don't want to let hi outside alone because he could get into problems again.'
