A wild monkey jumped on a tourist car's window when they opened it to wave at the animal.

Footage shows the excited holidaymakers greeting the primates when another macaque suddenly leaped up to the sedan in Nakhon Ratchasima province's Khao Yai national park in Thailand on September 7.

The happy tourists were shocked as they could be heard shouting in the background.

Meanwhile, the monkey left the vehicle as the group closed the window after the startling incident.

One of the tourists said: "We were all friendly and waving hi at one of the monkeys when his friend did a shocking peek-a-boo at us. It was hilarious".
