Fruit and vegetable shortage hits UK as fresh aisles seen empty in London supermarket

A shortage of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers (February 21) has hit the UK, as seen in footage filmed in a Sainsburys supermarket in south-west London today.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has explained the shortage has been caused by bad weather in Europe and Morroco has disrupted harvests.

Two major supermarket chains Asda and Morrisons, have introduced limits to how much customers can purchase.
