This is the amusing clip showing close-up footage of an alien-like body featuring the world's largest land snail in South Africa on February 21.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Living and working in a wilderness area of the Kruger National Park gives me the opportunity to see all kinds of animals, big or small, on a daily basis. Sometimes I find all kinds of creatures in our garden such as these African giant land snails shown in the video. While they are common to see after heavy rains, taking the time to have a closer look at these snails was truly fascinating and gave me a whole new perspective on something so small and common out in nature. The African giant land snail is known to be the world’s largest land snail and grows to an average size of twenty centimetres. Unlike their vegetarian cousins, the African giant land snail is a scavenger and eats carrion, providing a useful ecological clean up service. Like all other snails, these snails need to stay moist, and you will only find them after heavy rains to be out and about. I took the opportunity at such an occasion and spent some time with two of these giants I found in my garden. Looking at the snail’s body features, the word alien-like came first to me. Their heads are fascinating to look at. The eyes are like tiny little black spots on top of long retractable stalks, two shorter stalks below to feel their way around with, and a unique mouth apparatus are known as a radula. This is a conveyor-like ribbon membrane with backward-facing teeth for rasping. The bodies of the snails are kept moist with mucus and probably the most fascinating part of filming these snails, was seeing how they literally pump and move the mucus through their bodies to stay hydrated. It was incredible to see how such fascinating creatures were going about their morning from a much closer view. From a distance the beautiful patterns on their shells can be seen, with each snail having its own unique pattern, usually consisting of brown and tan stripes with variations of light brown and cream. At the end when the snails were moving off into thicker vegetation, I was very impressed with the speed at which the largest land snail on this planet could move."
