A generous bride and groom handed out expensive gold bars to wedding guests.

Footage shows the newlyweds standing behind a table full of red jewellery boxes holding the precious nuggets during their lavish ceremony in Tagaytay City, the Philippines on February 19.

Each 4-inch-long bar was engraved with a cute prosperity rabbit and Chinese characters that cost 15,000 PHP (225 GBP).

The couple gave away about 100 gold bars to lucky friends and families who celebrated the special day with them.

Wedding coordinator Aldrik Gohel said: ‘Couples are becoming more creative with their wedding favours these days. From onions, now we have gold bars as giveaways.'

Aldrik added that the bride and groom owned a gold shop and thought it would be a nice theme for their wedding.

He said: ‘They sold jewellery pieces. They said it was the reason for their success. The couple was happy to share what they have.'
