Kittens abandoned in a cardboard box were rescued by passing locals.

The newborn felines were heard crying loudly from inside the container that was discarded on the side of the road in Bangkok, Thailand on January 2.

Resident Parade Sakulthai was with a friend and rushed to help the hungry creatures and took them home.

Footage shows the pair meowing hungrily as they aimlessly wandered in the small box. The kittens cried even louder when they heard people nearby like they were pleading for help.

Parade said: ‘Only a heartless person would do this. What if the cats climbed out and were hit by cars on the road?

‘There were many stray dogs that could have hurt them too. I feel really sorry for the cats.'

The good Samaritans adopted the kittens and named them Yaimai and Baimon. Parade fed and cleaned them up as their eyes were crusted with dirt.

Parade added: ‘Now they're in good hands. We will treat them like family.'
