A young woman rescued a 7-year-old boy who had fallen through a frozen river in Perm Krai, Russia, on February 16.

The 28-year-old woman, Leyla Abdulazimova, was on her way to pick up her car when she spotted the boy on the ice.

The child had fallen through the ice while on his way home from school with his classmate and her mother, who was pregnant.

The expecting mother was unable to pull the boy out herself so she flagged down passing cars.

Abdulazimova spotted the scene and crawled onto the ice towards the stranded boy. She managed to pull him out of the ice and back to safety.

The 7-year-old was then driven home where he was able to warm up.
