This footage was filmed and produced 22 February 2023.

This video shows locals in Pausa, Peru standing near a massive landslide on a narrow mountain pass instead of fleeing. The rockfall was caused by heavy rains that led to multiple rockslides on the national PE-32C highway, which was later cleared using heavy machinery.

The National Emergency Operations Centre (COEN) monitored the situation, while the Ministry of Transport and Communications provided emergency support for the extensive cleanup. Heavy storms in the country have caused landslides resulting in the deaths of at least 20 people, including two miners in the Puno region and 18 people near mines in the Arequipa Region who were swept away by a landslide.
