Reports of smoke outside Washington Metro's Van Ness–UDC station, US, prompted service suspension on the Red Line between Friendship Heights and Dupont Circle stations on the evening of February 26.

This video shows smoke seen from a platform at the station with passengers getting off a train.

No injuries were reported. According to D.C. Fire and Rescue, the smoke originated from a train car fire.

The filmer, named Alice, tweeted: "Loud explosion & red flash followed by smoke on the Red Line just as we were getting to the UDC Van Ness station".
